Municipalities create association to promote horses — Portugal Horse Tour aligns with objectives

The Portuguese Horse Municipalities Association (AMPC), which brings together local authorities with a strong tradition and connection to the equestrian sector, was formally established on 24 April 2025 at the National Coach Museum. The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco.

AMPC’s mission is to affirm the cultural, heritage and economic identity of equestrian territories, promoting equestrian tourism, inter-municipal cooperation and sustainable local development.

Municipalities such as Ponte de Lima, Esposende and Vila Pouca de Aguiar, which are also part of the Portugal Horse Tour (PHT), are among the founding members of the association. The PHT, as an international show jumping circuit, shares and embodies these values by promoting sporting excellence, the appreciation of territories and the affirmation of Portugal as an excellent equestrian destination.
